Sharing but caring
05 February, 2026
You know what grinds my gears? Invasive surveillance capitalism. Every mainstream platform that offers a "share with friends" button generates a URL bundled with tracking IDs. These are identifiable in the query params, such as sid or fbclid. The moment a third party (your network) clicks the link, they are mapped and linked to you indefinitely so platforms can optimize how they target you and your social network.

// After (Clean)

So next time you need to share a link with a friend or in a post, take a moment to identify potential tracking IDs and sanitize them out so you and your peers can stay a bit more private in the digital panopticon we live in.
Happy sharing!
