Velvet Visits the Violin

Velvet hid when the violin first came out of its case. The opening note seemed too large for the little room, and she watched from behind the curtain with only her ears visible.

The player tried a softer melody. Velvet emerged one paw at a time, following the bow as it moved. She settled beside the music stand where the low notes felt like distant purring through the floorboards.

Soon practice time became nap time. Velvet still disliked the loudest scales, but every gentle tune had a quiet audience curled beside the final page.
